Endometriosis Laparoscopic Surgery is Scheduled

I know, I know, I know. It's been ages since I've posted on here. I'm sorry.

I really haven't had much to write about. I've spent most of my time at home or at the dog park with my dogs. But I finally have a reason to write, again.

Endometriosis and Laparoscopic Surgery

It's been over a month since I made my consultation with a gynecologist. We had to wait patiently for my insurance to accept the procedure. Finally, after a quick internet check, the doctor saw the procedure has been approved, and she gave me a call.

I cried tears of joy and relief after I got off the phone. In less than a month I will be cut open- small cuts at least- and we will discover the truth. What is going on inside my crazy body? Is it Endometriosis or something else? Will this end my endless suffering?

The Surgery

The surgery is an outpatient procedure. The doctor will make two incisions: one by my bellybutton and the other on the side so she can move my organs around to get a good look. When (if) they see stuff that shouldn't be there they will remove it. Most likely with a laser. Then they will sew me back up and send me home to recover. And I can't wait.

Lupus Makes You Retarded

I don’t offend easily. If you want to get under my skin it’s going to take a lot of work on your part. But today I got pissed at a post on Selena Gomez has confessed she has Lupus, according to multiple celebrity stalking websites, and now she is allegedly back together with Justin Bieber. Who cares? I don’t understand why people care about which celebrity dates which. But The Superficial site was making fun of them getting back together saying “Yup, Lupus makes you retarded.”
Selena Gomez: One of the many to be diagnosed

"Yup, Lupus Makes You Retarded"

I know I shouldn’t get upset because some ignorant dolt has access to the internet. I shouldn’t be upset this person is ignorant in the first place. It isn’t their fault. But that simple phrase infuriated me. First of all, using the word "retarded" was probably not a wise choice by the author. It suggest behavior similar to a person with Down Syndrome and that's just offensive, not to the receiver of the "retarded" word, but to the Down Syndrome community.
Second, Lupus... well, yeah it can make you kind of stupid. It’s called Lupus brain fog. But it doesn't make you date your exes. It makes your thoughts feel like they're pushing through a sea of thick jello. It tends to worsen when stressed or around bright lights. There are a lot of bad things about Lupus and the way it affects the body. Oral sores, sensitivity to the sun, arthritis, skin rashes, it can affect the organs, and it can be deadly. Science has lessened how deadly Lupus is, but two years ago Sasha McHale, daughter of former Celtic player Kevin McHale, died at the young age of 23. It still is a deadly disease. It shouldn't be taken lightly.
It's terrible that Selena Gomez has Lupus. The only possible benefit is that we can add another celebrity voice to our cause if she chooses to use her celebrity status that way. Otherwise she is going to have a long and difficult road ahead of her dealing with medicine and all the symptoms she will have.
Back to the article on, if you can even call it that. The site lives up to its name. It’s superficial all right. I really shouldn’t be upset because this site is devoted to filling all your celebrity stalking desires. But I am. I am upset that they are trivializing Lupus. It's an indirect attack on the struggles every Lupus patient goes through, whether that was their intention or not. If Selena Gomez is on hiatus because of her Lupus then I am happy that she has people around her who are sticking by her and caring for her.
